MTV first introduced Polizzi in the first season of "Is She Really Going Out With Him", a show that tells the story of "sweet girls" and the "douchebags" they date. Season 1, Episode 14 tells the story of Nicole and Justin the "Jerz Pud".

Polizzi then entered the reality TV scene on the season premiere of the show Jersey Shore which first aired on MTV December 3, 2009.
